My first delivery was successful! Chicken soup went out to Parkview Plaza and neighbors on our block. Please call or text me if you had any trouble ordering or if you have any questions.

Here's a link to "how to" sanitize deliveries coming into your home:

Let's stay safe together. More to come soon.

Much love,

Meal For 3-25 (Wednesday)

Remember: Our goal here is to provide home-cooked meals to folks who don't have what they need. Grocery stores still seem to have a lot of out-of-stock items, so I want to do a "comfort food". I also want to be safe and keep our friends and family safe, so I'm using strict sanitation methods and we're delivering on a "no contact" basis.

Availability: Parkview Plaza Condominium and E. Brockwood Street Neighbors, on a "Pre-Order" basis. Supplies will be limited, so we'll update this page if we max out on orders.

Meal: Homestyle Chicken Soup (from scratch)
Cost: $7 per quart (that's 32 ounces which is two servings, or one serving if you're a big eater)
Ordering Deadline: Tuesday, 3-24 at 2:00 pm

How To Order:
1) Call or text Duane at (562) 209-9339
2) Pam and Tom will also be collecting orders at Parkview
3) Please provide your Parkview unit number or your Brockwood Street house number for delivery

Parkview Plaza deliveries will occur between 5:00 and 5:30. The meal will be placed on your doorstep, then I will knock on your door and walk away. Deliveries on E . Brockwood will be arranged on a person-to-person basis.

Much love,
Duane

My name is Duane Hatashita. I've been a chef for over 20 years. For the last decade, I've been working for Hyatt in Long Beach, California. My job at Hyatt is to feed large groups of people, sometimes over 1,000 people at one time. But that ended last week when COVID-19 came into our lives.

The hotel I work at is closed now, hoping to re-open in May. My co-workers and I don't know what to expect, probably much like you don't know what your future holds right now. I'm used to working 10+ hours a day, but now I have time at home, and I need to figure out what to do with myself.

I have access to ingredients, and I have a home kitchen stocked with chef-grade equipment. There are people in my neighborhood that need to eat and might be fearful of leaving home to shop or pick-up meals. I want to do something to help my community and bridge that gap. I plan to serve by cooking and delivering low-cost meals to friends and family during this difficult time.

Keep an eye on this blog for updates, or sign up here for email alerts. If you have any questions, contact me at (562) 209-9339, or my wife Jane Lapham at (562) 472-5810. Thanks in advance for your support in this difficult time. I hope my work can help to provide for others during this crisis.

Much love,
Duane
